Amélie
Your background?
For as long as I can remember, I have always found fulfillment in expressing my ideas and feelings through the visual arts.
It was therefore only natural that I should turn to artistic studies. First, at the Académie de Meuron in Neuchâtel. At this Art School, I was introduced to the many aspects of artistic creation. I then joined the École d'Art appliquée de la Chaux-de-Fonds as a clothing designer. There, I acquired a solid foundation in sewing techniques, I was able to develop my aesthetic sense and create my first garments. Finally, it was during my training for a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design at HEAD-Geneva that I deeply enriched my work as a designer.
These courses have opened my mind and developed my interest and knowledge in design and art. I have acquired techniques and developed very personal tools that allow me to express my ideas and thus remove any limitations to my work.
Experimentation and deconstruction are an integral part of my creative process. My work is not limited to the body, but also touches on the space that surrounds it. Thus, I like to play with forms and especially functions in surprising ways, but also to play with fabric and wool by integrating more unexpected materials such as metal or wood.
Your activities/commitments/projects outside the Lab?
I'm currently making a wedding dress for one of my best friends and I'm in the middle of preparing the scenography for my collection, which will be exhibited in Basel. At the same time, I'm working with Melinda Stampfli on the staging of a dance performance, incorporating one of my creations, which will take place in June at the Théâtre du Passage in Neuchâtel.
