Your background?

I started working at the age of 12 in my brother-in-law's workshop in Syria. At first, I made coffees and cleaned, and I was quickly taught all aspects of garment making. Later, I trained in pattern making.

In 2006, I opened my own women's clothing manufacturing company. I worked alongside about fifteen people.

In 2013, due to the war in my country, I had to close my factory and move to Lebanon. There, I worked in a clothing production factory. I assisted the boss by designing the clothes and distributing the work to the seamstresses.

In 2015, I left Lebanon to come to Switzerland. I learned French through various organizations, including Kalam, which is located in Lausanne. Since last November, I have joined the Laboratory team.

Your activities outside the Lab?

I give sewing classes in Kalam, mainly alterations.

What are you making in the Lab?

I cut and sew clothes. I also do alterations.

What do you enjoy doing when you have time off?

I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children. We live in the countryside and spend time in the forest, walking, and at the lake.

I like to travel, to Germany, France. In Switzerland too, part of my family lives in Zurich and we often visit them.

I really enjoy playing soccer. Every weekend I meet up with my friends and we play, and my children often join in too.

How do you define yourself?

I am curious but also very shy.

Places where you like to spend time?

I've visited many lakes in Switzerland, Germany, and France. If my family and I go there for a weekend, we also like to have a barbecue. I particularly enjoy lakes because they soothe and calm me.
