Your background?

I studied fashion design for 4 years at Central Saint Martin's in London. With my Bachelor's degree in hand, I then went to do internships and work in Paris (notably for LUTZ who, by chance, is now the head of the fashion department at HEAD in Geneva). I then lived and worked in Japan, then in 2010 I launched my brand Atelier Laure Paschoud and started producing collections (since the end of my studies, alongside my jobs, I made clothes myself and already sold them in a few boutiques in London and Switzerland, so it was quite natural that I moved to this stage.)

In 2016, I returned to Japan and put the hectic pace of producing two collections a year on hold. Since my return in 2019, I have been working at the Lab and for the past few months I have also been involved in setting up the LA TRAME project in Lausanne.

Your activities/commitments/projects outside the Lab?

As mentioned above, I am one of the “founders” of the LA TRAME project, a textile meeting place in Lausanne. Within the framework of this project, I am interested in issues of integration and what clothing means and implies in today’s world.

As for my brand Atelier Laure Paschoud, I also intend to one day use the magnificent kimono fabrics received from Japan for a small production run... to be continued.

What are you making in the Lab?

When I'm on site, I'm in charge of presenting items in the store, sewing projects, newsletters, and communication. I hardly ever sew, but I enjoy thinking and suggesting ideas for different projects and proposals for reusing textile scraps.
When I work remotely (one morning a week) I take care of communication on social networks, I am lucky, Noura regularly prepares magnificent images for us and suddenly it is a pleasure to work with such beautiful content!

What do you enjoy doing when you have time off?

As a mother of two young children, my day off is unfortunately no longer dedicated to one of my favorite activities: sleeping.
My Sundays are still joyful: I enjoy spending time gardening or going for walks and picnics with my little family.
